Laboratory Technician

As part of their current recruitment drive within the CASE segment, a leading international emulsion polymer business is looking to add an exceptional Senior Laboratory Technician to support growth. As the CASE business is entering a new growth phase, this will be a key hire where you will collaborate with multiple layers of the organisation to run applications tests on the company’s latex binders for adhesives and sealants. The Lab Tech is a role requiring a technically experienced candidate in adhesive and sealant applications, including packaging, tape, structural and construction.

The position in question is a crucial addition to the EMEA team, with the ability to influence up and down the Binders business. The organisation is making great progress in this market and will now bring on an experienced individual with a background in adhesive and sealant applications to strengthen their technical prowess.

The role:

You will be independently responsible for running formulation tasks and application tests on the company’s core products – centred around Acrylic, Styrene, S-A and S-B chemistries. You will be primarily involved in performing application laboratory work in the product development of binders.

The prime objective of this position is:

  • the provision of cutting-edge applications testing, developing, creating and modifying testing methods
  • performing hands-on lab work - preparation and execution of lab tests
  • Analytical lab work (rheological/infrared)
  • Optimisation and development of new/existing test methods
  • performing safety trainings

You must have an academic background in Chemistry or Polymer Science and be able to drive, organise and follow different formulation plans, run the tests for different applications, solve any problems that may arise and be able to modify testing methods. Close collaboration with R&D and Technical Service colleagues will be essential.

If you have:

  • Completed training as a chemical or physical laboratory technician
  • Work experience in a testing laboratory
  • Strong understanding of chemistry, physics or materials science
  • Written and spoken German and English skills
